What does a visit with ILP look like?

The best outcome for your infant or toddler is within a strong relationship. We support this relationship through visiting with you and your child in your home, where your relationship develops and grows.

Where do visits take place?

Babies and toddlers learn best in the safety and comfort of a familiar environment with their caregivers. This is often your family home. Other places visits may occur include community locations such as the park, swimming pool, beach, Turf for Tots, grocery store and library. When access to the natural environment is not possible, REACH ILP has a family playroom for visits. We also coordinate and provide services within your family’s childcare setting. Our expectation is that we meet you and your child where you are and will join you in your daily life.

Who will visit our family?

You will be assigned a family service coordinator who will visit with your family. Other specialists may join the visit based on the plan you develop.

When will we meet?

How often you will meet with your ILP home visitor is determined by your child’s team, which includes you and the ILP providers.  It will then be outlined in your Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).  

 

 

What will we do during the visits?

This is a focused time and your presence is critical. We will be working on strategies and activities that support your relationship with your child. Reducing distractions will allow you to be present and available for your child. If your child has been very interested in water play earlier in the day, we may use that interest to support her goals. During this hour we are with your family. It is our job to make sure you feel empowered in your role of supporting your child’s development throughout your child’s day.

 

 

What if my child is sick?

Your child benefits most from our visit if they are healthy. We ask that if your child has had any of the following conditions in the last 24 hours, please call to reschedule the visit. Your ILP provider will also cancel a visit if they are ill.

• a fever of 100 degrees or greater (before taking a fever reducer)

• vomiting

• pink eye

• any communicable illnesses

 

 

How do I cancel or reschedule a visit?

If you are unable to keep a scheduled visit appointment, we ask that you call and let us know at  your earliest convenience.  Your ILP home visitor will provide you with their direct contact information. You may also contact the ILP administrative assistant by calling (907) 796-7277.

 

 

Who see my child's health and developmental information?

REACH ILP adheres to the Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act (HIPPA). Protected health information is strictly confidential and will not be given to anyone without the required written releases of information signed by you. In addition, the REACH IP receives funds under the U.S. Department of Education’s Individual’s with Disabilities Education Act (I.D.E.A).  Your child’s information is also protects under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99).  FERPA is a federal law that protects the privacy of child records.
